With the enormous support of Australian Ethical Investment, MSAP plans to collaborate with 'HandUp Congo' to support the Congolese women's NGO 'Fondation Lucie Otaenga' in Lotumbe, a remote village and regional health hub in the DRC's Equatorial Province. Accessible only by dugout canoe or afoot through the world's second largest rain forest — 400 km from the largest town — FLO strives to improve women and children's lives through income-generating poverty alleviation projects and sustainable community development.
MSAP will stock a FLO community store with school and household
essentials, generating
income to purchase and distribute insecticide-treated nets to combat
malaria, the leading cause of
infant mortality in DRC, according to UNICEF. Purchasing a motorized
canoe, petrol and one year's
salary for a canoe pilot will allow FLO to sell products at riverside
markets and help medical
workers access isolated communities.
With our partners, we will help improve medical outreach through
sustainable community projects and capacity building. Our progress and
success will be reported on our website, so please keep a look out on
our updates!
Photos of the current achievements of FLO will be online soon on the next page.
These pages will be image heavy, so it may take a while to load on
slower internet connections.
